Accomplished editor/writer with an eclectic skill set—top-editing, copyediting, managing projects, growing brands, and anticipating the tastes of tomorrow—available to cultivate or create top-tier content. With a decade of success in the magazine world under my belt (staff editor for multiple titles, Editor-in-Chief of a luxury lifestyle publication, freelance journalist, custom content creator, freelance copyeditor, and published author), I am dedicated to the art of effective communication. My experience, positive attitude, and collaborative approach will prove beneficial to any team looking to make a strong impact and offer the highest caliber of content.
Editor in Chief, Los Angeles Confidential; Executive Editor, Niche Media, LLC
At Niche Media, I learned the ins and outs of the publishing world, from every angle. Tasked with delivering engaging and demographic-appropriate content with luxury lifestyles titles such as Gotham, Aspen Peak, Hamptons, Ocean Drive, Capitol File, and Vegas, I covered the worlds of culture, fashion, celebrity, travel, and beauty. Meanwhile, I assigned and edited countless columns, managed budgets, and oversaw a large bicoastal staff as Editor in Chief of Los Angeles Confidential. During these years, I learned the importance of advertiser relationships, marketing, deadlines, and budget management.
Author, A Hedonist’s Guide to New York, A Hedonist’s Guide to Los Angeles (HG2.com)
This opportunity came to me in 2005, when a publisher from London asked if I’d create a New York edition of his successful guidebook series. Through working on two editions of HG2: A Hedonist’s Guide to New York and HG2: A Hedonist’s Guide to Los Angeles, as well as a custom site for Virgin Atlantic, I learned the delicacy of time management and developed a love of photo editing. Garnering praise from the likes of The New York Times, these guides are a source of great pride.
Freelance journalism has allowed me to find my own voice as a writer and explore a variety of interests, such as architecture and business writing. Recent assignments include:
-New You magazine. I have served as the chief copyeditor and Editor at Large of New You magazine since its re-launch in 2012. This enthusiastically received publication is a smart and well-researched presence in the world of wellness and beauty. In addition to writing many of its lead features, I am responsible for its consistency and tone. It was recognized by MIN as the “most improved” publication of 2013.
-Blogs for Equinox Fitness (Q Blog) and Virgin Atlantic. I have contributed my work to the blogs of these highly respected brands, and they have rewarded me with more and more work and responsibility.
–Interior Design magazine and the “Designwire” blog on Interiordesign.net. I have a weekly “10 Questions With…” column, in which I interview world-class architects and interior designers. It is one of the most fascinating assignments on my plate.
-Modern Luxury. I have written cover interviews and interior content for this high-end publishing company, and top-edited a number of their titles, such as The Atlantan, Men’s Book, and Jezebel.
–The Hollywood Reporter, Details.com, and Next magazine. I have written for a number of esteemed national and regional titles—everything from business publications to Conde Nast entities to LGBT-centric weeklies.
Freelance Custom Content Creator
My work as a custom content creator has been very satisfying, allowing me to amplify the reach of my clients, channel the spirit of brands, understand consumers, and become a more effective communicator. Recent assignments include:
-Bravo TV. I write and edit a variety of their marketing content, including the highly praised Affluencers magazine.
-JW Marriott. I contribute interviews to the in-room publication of Marriott’s high-end brand, JW Marriott.
-John Barrett Salon and Fete NYC. I have written the websites and social media offerings for these two stylish NYC companies, one being the salon atop Bergdorf Goodman and the other a top-tier event planning company.
-Hewlett Packard. I work with HP to communicate brand strategy and put its marketing efforts into words.
-Web content, professional bios, and business plans. I write a large amount of business copy for small companies and entrepreneurs.

There, I received an intimate education from scholars such as Venable Herndon, Carol Rocamora, and Janet Neipris.

Redux: During my teen years, I came into my own in several ways. I discovered my knack for writing and practiced with determination. I took on a number of after-school jobs (cafes and shops) and learned early on the value of hard work. Perhaps most significantly, I became a youth advocate for LGBT issues, speaking at large conferences, schools, and on television.
